Wiping
second plate The ink for printing should be mixed with a small part of powdered Magnesium Calcimate and printing oil which renders it easier to wipe. I use tarlatan from which I have removed most of the starch gathered into a ball. |

Cleaning
the boarder You should clean the edges of the plate with a dry clean rag. The boarders should be filed down to a 45° to a depth of about 1.5 mm. so the plate will not cut the paper as you pass it through the press. |

Placing
the plate I usually use a piece of dry paper identical to the ed- ition paper which has been centered to hold the plates. Four pin holes, one at each corner work well. Placing the paperThe paper should be prepared the day before print- ing. I usually prepare only the amount that I will use because paper which remains unused in the humid- ifier could very easily develop spotting from mould which can appear after years. I wet the paper with a clean sponge and put it into a large plastic sack and under a weight for the night. |
