Barry Smylie

Born in Calgary in 1948, Smylie first became interested in art in 1966 as a printer’s assistant to John Snow. After graduating from Sir George Williams University, Montreal in 1971, he worked in John Snow’s studio until 1985 when he moved to Toronto to establish his own studio. In 1988, Smylie had a major one-man exhibition at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa. Smylie’s works are in several Canadian public collections.
