Statement

Muriel Frega and Barry Smylie are professional artists. Muriel lives in Argentina and Barry is located in Canada , they have never met in person. They have carried on an email correspondence for 4 years and have completed:

2002 - A & H

2002 - Circ One

2003 - Circ Two

2004 - Circ Three

2005 - Iliad Book 21 with Susan Katz

All the previous showings have been "conceptual" and have had no physical, marketable attributes beyond screen play on the computer monitor and hit tabulations. For the showing SalvaSalvo they have attempted to make a commodity which is of an "agile manufacture". Both Muriel and Barry are graphic artists. When making an edition the artists must first limit the manufacture to an edition which requires speculation. With agile manufacture the artists can make a digital matrix which can be printed to order which reduces the gamble and lowers the price.

They began their photographic study with a conceptual formulation, the golden mean and the ISO 216-series . They came to the format because the standard printer paper sizes in Argentina and in Canada are different. In Argentina the common paper size is A4 and in Canada it is Letter Size.

After an extensive analysis of the Golden Rectangle they decided to use the golden mean (apon which ISO 260 series is based) within the two standard sizes. They called it "make do" after a quote from the teachings of John Snow (1908 - 2003) who said: "Artists make do."

Prints from the photographic series are available in either A4 or letter size format depending on your location near Muriel or near Barry. The prints are available on glossy printer paper stock at 300 dpi with matting borders as depicted in the showing ready for framing at $15.00 U.S. per sheet, shipping and handling and guaranteed good condition on arrival included.

The compositions in the section, "Make Do Done ", are designs for potential collage arrangements in real gallery installations and are not now offered for sale on the internet.
