In 1990 John Snow asked me if I would like to design and cut some lino blocks. He offered to print them for me on his semi power, Platen press. I was living in Toronto and Jack was living in Calgary. I cut the lino blocks and sent them to him in the mail. He ripped the papers and mixed the ink to his own satisfaction and printed the Tarot series (8 prints) and Babes (7 prints) in editions of 25 (375 sheets). He repackaged the blocks and wrapped the editions and sent them to me via Canada Post. A portion of the project was a Postes de Arte piece.
The paper size John Snow selected was 6 x 8 in. The image size of the block is 4 x 6 in. He used his own brilliantly white, Green rag paper from England. It is a heavy stock of, I'd estimate, more than 300 grams. The title page contains a manipulated digital photographic reproduction of a self portrait by Maxwell Bates, a mutual friend who was inter-ested in the Tarot. |
